Adams State will be hosting a public viewing session for the solar eclipse on August 21, on the sidewalk outside the planetarium, from 10:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  There will be a couple of telescopes with solar filters, and one projecting an image of the Sun onto a screen.  Safe solar glasses will be available (while supplies last, $1 donation requested).

In Alamosa, the Sun will be about 85% covered at maximum eclipse, which occurs at 11:46 a.m.

This event is free and open to the public.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  The planetarium is located on Richardson Ave., on the green in front of Richardson Hall.
